Berowra Waters is a small community of just over 150 water access only properties located from Marramarra Creek to the north (at the entrance to Berowra Creek) through to Silverwater Reach on the Southern side of the Ferry/Marina.

In years past the river settlements were home to holidaymakers and weekenders joining a few hardy locals, fishermen and oyster farmers living permanently on the river. Today, most of the river community resides full time and commutes to work and school. A unique support system exists on the river. Residents tend to look after one another, on and off the water. There’s a willingness to lend a hand, which is readily demonstrated should a boat break down or run out of fuel. Help is never far away.

Our infrastructure in the pontoons, the waterlines, the car parking and garbage services has been established and in many cases, is still maintained through the collective effort of the community. We rely on the community organisations to get us to and from work and to keep life on the river available and accessible.

Our enviable calendar of community events reflects the willingness of our community to work together and come together to make life on the river every bit as unique and wonderful as the natural environment which surrounds us.

Berowra Waters is a unique and wonderful place to live set in a beautiful river valley and occupied by people who care about their families, their community and their environment.

The endeavours of residents have resulted in many successful projects including the installation of security cameras and the erection of fencing and boom gates to improve security in the residents’ car park. The installation and maintenance of the water pipelines, which supply mains water to each household from Silverwater to Calabash Bay is another demonstration of the community’s willingness to work together.

The community demographic has changed significantly in the last 30 years when 30% of the population were permanent residents. It is now 75% permanent residents with most going to work full time with school buses picking up the kids from the park on the western side.
